I have been coaching small business owners on marketing and business for decades.
I've seen a thing or two.
Or three.
I found myself doing a quick brain scan about what separates the big time achievers from the rest of the pack.
It became very obvious (at least in my work) that there were two kinds of business owners:
1 -- Those who desire to build a more profitable business AND ACTUALLY FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE STEPS REQUIRED TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS;
and
2 -- Those who desire to build a more profitable
business and, ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE GOOD INTENTIONS, never get around to doing what's required of them to attain success.
Could it really be that simple?
Well, yes and no. There are more steps to just following through, but it's definitely attainable.
It really comes down to one thing (if I had to boil it down):
EXECUTION
Every single task, every single plan, every single strategy is held up by the execution that's required.
I can't tell you have many dozens of times (hundreds maybe even!) I've heard a coaching client say, "I know we talked about me doing X a few months ago,
but I just got so busy." Or "... yes, yes, we discussed it but something else came up."
HERE'S THE GOLD...
I do truly believe if I uploaded a map of buried treasure to this email... and GUARANTEED you the treasure was under a few inches of dirt... and I showed you exactly where the "X Marks the Spot"
is...
Not only would most people not bother to download the map, of those who do download the map, only a handful would print it out. And of those who print it out, maybe, MAYBE, only one or two would actually go and try to dig up the treasure.
It's a matter of belief and execution. You could be aboslutely convinced there's buried gold out there but simply not take action on
it.
I'm not a psychologist, but some people are wired to be doers and some just talkers. Yes, you can change over time, but it's an uphill climb.
So, what's my point?
Enought time wasted on "good intentions" with no follow through.
If you know what to do to get the brass ring, then DO IT!
If you don't know what to do, find someone who will help you or coach you get there.
Until next time...
