Dear , My good friend and copywriting coach extraordinaire, David Garfield, just made a post about storytelling. COULD IT BE ANY EASIER? _____________________ The simplest story formula in the world:
Something happened. Something changed.
People make storytelling so complicated. But it doesn’t have to be.
If you have a problem (something) and you do
something about it (what happened) and you solve the problem (what changed)…
Boom!
There’s your story.
There are MUCH more complicated ways to tell stories.
Many of them actually work.
But if you want to complete your story and share it with the world, don’t get all tied up in the cat’s cradle (spider web) of those complicated formulas.
If you had a weight problem, and you made these changes in your diet and these changes in your exercise, and your
weight problem went away—that’s a story.
If you were barely making a living, and you found a new side hustle that paid you 3x what you were making before, and now you’re putting money in the bank—that’s a story.
If you were too shy to go on a date, and you learned a new way to talk to people, and now you’re in a great relationship—that’s a story!
Start simple.
You’ve got the rest of your life to get as complicated as you want.
But you need to get started. So
start with something you can actually do. It’s not that hard… and when you have a good story to tell, people WILL be interested.
(No matter how simple it is.) ______________________ Do you see how simple it can be? I always tell you -- you must make story-telling part of your marketing message. I can't emphasize that enough. |
