Dear ,
Clint Eastwood famously said the line, "Go ahead, make my day" in 1983.
The movie was Sudden Impact.
It's definitely in the top 5 most quoted movie lines of all time (maybe even in the
top 3).
But what does this have to do with marketing? A lot.
I
want to tell you about one of my secret referral strategies called...
The "Make My Day... and Watch Them Play" Strategy
It goes something like this:
Identify your top 12 referral sources. I mean the really good ones.
If you don't have 12, then pick out 3 or 5 or
8 -- whatever.
Every month, select one of them to spoil with a nice gift or dinner certificate or tickets to an event, etc.
Make a big deal out of
it -- balloons and the works.
The types of gifts and elaborate manner in which you decide to deliver them are limited only by your imagination.
Because this Will Be a Complete Surprise and Totally Out of the Blue,
The reaction you'll get will vary from the excitedly surprised... to... the overwhelmed with
tears.
But, make no mistake, using this strategy will encourage them to "play" along and actually seek out business to refer you.
Following this strategy, people will want to reward your efforts and generosity with sending more business your way.
It's a win-win! I don't think it's never not worked for my clients and
me.
Just consider it a business/marketing expense, that if properly executed, will pay for itself MANY times over.
Until next time...
