Global Coptic Day really is a thing (in case you've never heard of it).
It was first celebrated in 2019, after receiving the approval of His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef and then the blessing of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II. In fact, His Holiness is such a supporter of Global Coptic Day, His
Holiness has spoken about it multiple times in sermons and interviews with Egyptian media. Here is an example (Arabic): https://youtu.be/YzGCx8s0HHI For two years in a row, 2019 and 2020, President Trump sent a Presidential Letter acknowledging Global Coptic Day and
congratulated Copts all over the world on this celebration (much thanks to Coptic Chamber Gold Member, George Sorial, Esq., for his help in this regard). Also, last year, the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church passed a resolution recommending every Coptic Diocese celebrate Global Coptic Day on June 1st of every year. Global Coptic Day is near and dear to my heart because I've received the blessing of being involved with it from its inception.
We thank God for giving us the Coptic Orthodox Church and for the impact our Church has had on the world in world in terms of Theological education, monasticism, martyrdom, the Church Creed, hymnology and much more. Much thanks to His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef for his vision and leadership from day one. A very big thank you also to Executive Committee member and Coptic Chamber Gold Member, Susan Israel, for her tireless service and enthusiastic support. Global Coptic Day is celebrated to commemorate the most significant Christian event in Egypt's
