According to Sprout Social, 73.3% of people purchase products and services because of social media.
Did you get that? Almost three-quarters of the population!
Therefore, if you're not making social a big part of your
marketing mix, you are greatly limiting your universe of potential buyers/clients/patients.
It's Not Supposed to Be a Monologue
Don't forget it's called "social" media for a reason: It's supposed to be
SOCIAL.
In other words, you must interact with your audience.
If you want your audience to connect with you and appreciate what you post, ask them questions, like their posts, comment on things that are important to them...
... also... share their posts/repost or retweet, etc.
It sounds so simple, but believe it or not, a small majority actually does that.
I have a client whose entire social media strategy consisted of him posting and sharing articles on Facebook and
LinkedIn (that was before he met me):
No original content.
No interaction with the audience.
No cool photo posts.
No cool video posts.
No contests (which are
a great way to engage your audience).
And guess what? Social media basically did nothing for him. I had to completely restructure his strategy to make it much more social. And in a few short weeks, the number of followers TRIPLED and his engagement rate is through the roof!
Remember the rule in social media: IT MUST BE SOCIAL.
And, if it's not, it's simply only "media" and people will treat it like any advertisement, which means
they'll probably ignore it.
That wouldn't be very good, would it?
