This just might be the greatest speaking tip I'll ever give you...
Dear ,
In 2002, I give a seminar to approximately 80 lawyers. (The pic above is from the actual seminar.)
It was a free event; I didn't charge because I wanted to stuff the room with as many people as possible.
I spoke for about 55 minutes.
When I had finished, I walked out $52,000 richer.
What Did I Do?
Mainly, two things:
1 -- I jam-packed the talk with immediately usable, practical content, filled with tips and strategies for building a practice.
2 -- I sold my marketing courses (back in the days of CDs) and consulting packages at the end of the talk and created a buying frenzy. Out of the 80 attendees, about 35 bought packages. That's an incredibly high closing ratio.
How Did I Do It?
Come very close and listen very carefully: what I'm about to share with you is a MASSIVE secret regarding speaking and presenting. If there was
a hidden vault of speaking secrets, this one would be deeply hidden.
So, you know how when people give presentations, they will often blab about their topic... go on and on... bore you to death with disjointed, disparate
information and not have a cohesive "binding structure" for their topics? This is a death sentence for your talk.
Unfortunately, most speakers are like that. They just spit out information without any type of organizational method. This leaves the audience with an emptiness,
even though you might be sharing great content.
THE SECRET IS THIS: To give the audience the feeling that you're giving them substantial
information... bulking up the talk with gold nuggets... filling their time with huge takeaways, you should use the following type of wording and numerical structure to "cluster" your information (these are just examples):
-Here Are the Top 8 Ways to... (fill in whatever is relevant)...
-These Are 4 Crucial Mistakes to Avoid When... (fill in whatever is relevant)...
-The 5 Easiest Methods for... (fill in whatever is relevant)...
-The Fool-Proof Formula for... (fill in whatever is relevant)...
-6 Ways to Win any... (fill in whatever is relevant)...
And so on... (Again these are all examples. The key is to give numerical structure to your clustered information.)
This way, when you fill your talk with information that is clustered and structed in such a manner, the audience "feels" full. They're stuffed with your hearty
information. It's like the difference between eating at an Asian restaurant versus feasting at an all-you-can-eat prime rib buffet.
I promise you -- you can take this to the bank -- if you structure your talks and speaking engagements the way I'm advising you above, you will notice a world of
difference in your audience's reaction, the number of people who approach you after your talk, and in your sales.
I'm thinking about doing a seminar about this exact topic -- going into much more detail -- at some point in the future. Maybe it will be my COPTIC-CON 2023
topic. We'll see.
Hope you enjoyed this!
Until next time...
