I've always told you about this...

Dear ,
I've said it numerous times before.
I'll say it again.
Any ad you place, any video you make, any email you send, any speech you give, has to have one very important ingredient:
A HEADLINE (aka Attention-Grabber).
In the case of any ad, it's the large font statement or question all the way on top.
For an email, it's the first line and subject line.
In a video, it's the very first thing out of your mouth and thumbnail.
For a speech, it's your opening sentence or question.
Your "headline" MUST -- I repeat, MUST -- immediately grab your audience's attention and make them want to listen to/read more.
That's the job of a headline.
I see way too many small business owners send out marketing pieces that lack a headline or have a poor headline.
LIke take this headline I just read on a website for a bed linen company:
"Tired of Loose & Wrinkled Bed Sheets? Try This!"
At first impression, it might seem like a decent headline, right?
Well, it's not. It's not because, while some people may have complaints about loose and wrinkled sheets, most do not. Or at least, it's not such a huge issue that would cause them to seek an immediate solution.
The result? This ad will likely bomb and be mostly ineffective.
Wasted advertising dollars.
Please don't make the same mistake. Direct your headline to as large an audience in your target group as possible... and... appeal to their biggest pain points, not to an occasional "problem"?
Instead, a better headline would be:
Your Bed Sheets Are Making You Sick!
(And then the ad can talk about how good, comfortable bed sheets can result in a better night's rest... which means a healthier you. And everyone can relate to wanting to be healthier.)
See the difference?
Hope this helped. That's it for now.
And, remember, K.I.C. (Keep It Coptic).
