Here's a simple, no-brainer "trick" I use to gain an extra 63 hours
of productive time a year:
I simply set my clock ahead by 15 minutes.
How it works: When I awaken, I look at the clock and think the
time is 6:45am.
Already late, I throw on my clothes and rush downstairs to my
office, which takes 2 minutes.
Then when I sit down, I remember I set the clock ahead and it is
only 6:30am, my preferred start time, and I did NOT oversleep!
This way I gain an extra hour and a quarter of productive time
every work week.
It may not sound like much.
But multiply by 51 weeks a year, and you get an extra 63.75 hours
every year.
If you make, say, $150 an hour, you add another $9,562.50 to your
annual income.
Even more valuable to me, this simple 15-minute hack helps me
start the day calmly instead of in a frenzy.
I feel more relaxed and happy from the start, which improves my
mood.
And that in turn helps increase my productivity and enjoyment for
the entire day.
My father drilled his belief into me, which was -- if you are not
15 minutes early, you are 15 minutes late.
Which works especially well when you want to be on time, whether
it's a business meeting, wedding, or doctor appointment.
I hate being late, and with my 15-minute clock hack, I almost
never am.
Action step: Set your clock ahead by 15 minutes every day this
week, and see whether it works for you, too.
