Some people say timing is everything.
Some say connections are everything.
Yet others insist it's all about preparation.
There's no doubt all of these are essential; I dare say there's something just as important -- if not even more so.
It is...
Perspective
Perspective allows you to adapt to your circumstance and change negatives into positives.
Motivational guru, Tony Robbins, has a great saying about perspective.
Actually, it's about problems but it relates to your perspective on them.
Robbins says:
"Every Problem Is a Gift --
Without Problems We Would Not Grow"
Quite true when you think about it.
When people encounter problems, difficulties, challenges and the like, they can either:
Curse the day and collapse... or...
Gain perspective by embracing (yes, embracing) the problem and turning it into a positive.
It's all about perspective.
The most successful people have learned to do this quite well.
I Remember Back When
I Was Selling Marketing CD's to Lawyers...
One of the programs I was offering had an unusually high return rate. It was a problem. It was discouraging. None of my other programs had anywhere near that return rate.
Instead of cancelling the program, I offered a $50 gift card to any attorney who gave me feedback on the program and how they would improve it.
About 25% of them responded.
That did three things: 1. It reduced the number of returns because the buyer felt weird about getting a gift card AND a refund; 2. It actually initiated the dialogue between the customers and me which helped convert some of them into my coaching programs worth thousands of dollars; 3. It allowed me to pinpoint exactly what the problem was and fix it.
It's all about perspective.
How I handle a situation is all about how I see things: Is it an incurable problem or can I find a great solution?
Until next time...
