The most common question I get asked is this:
What made you start the Coptic Chamber?
(And in the same breath I'll usually get, "I had actually toyed around with the idea of doing something that for many years.")
When someone asks me what my motivation was for creating the Chamber, it tells me many things. Most importantly, I realize:
I haven't shared "the story" nearly enough.
What's the Chamber story? It's simply that my late father, Fouad Anis, was the motivation and driving force behind all of this. Since the time we immigrated to the US from Egypt (1969), he was a Coptic Chamber within himself. Business owners would call him from all over, visit us at home at all hours of the day or night, just to get his counsel on business matters and help with
making connections. He was a one-man Coptic Chamber.
That's why this means so much to me.
But, clearly I don't share the story enough because people still have questions about how and why we started.
But I don't want to make this about me -- this is about you.
What's your story?
How and why did you start your business?
What is your motivation?
What challenges did you have to overcome to be where you are today?
All these questions matter. They're important and interesting. They're a huge part of branding -- they allow your customer/client base to connect with you on a deeper level... if you openly share them.
Don't shy away from telling your story. Ugly parts and all.
In fact, I would say you're committing a grave marketing mistake if you don't build your brand around it.
People love stories. They want to know the "why" behind who you are and what you're offering.
Like I said, it's the most common question I get asked.
And now you know.
Have a great weekend!
Until next time...
