Regardless of what you're selling -- ANYTHING -- establishing rapport is key.
Rapport should precede any type of sales pitch.
You want to relate to the client, make them feel comfortable and make them connect with you before you ask for the sale.
So I wanted to share this great post with you by Cathy McReynolds that I found on the Gary Halbert Copy Club.

Learn How To FORM a Relationship Like a Pro:
Do:
1. Be genuinely interested
2. Get THEM talking a lot
3. Listen more
4. Use me too a lot
5. Use words like: we, our
Don’t:
1. Have commission breath
2. Talk more
3. Disagree
4. Use the words: I, me or my
5. Be attached to the results
6. SEND Links without permission first.
Tips:
1. Look at their profile
2. Drop likes & comments
3. Ask questions: Why...When...Where...What
F= FROM/FAMILY
Where are you from?
Do you have a big family?
How many kids do you have? How old are they?
How long have you been married?
O – OCCUPATION
What’s your background?
What do you like about what
you do?
How long have you been
doing it?
How did you get started in
your business?
R= RECREATION
What do you do for fun?
Do you get to do it a lot?
Where's your favorite place
to go?
Do you play any sports?
M – MESSAGE
Identify their color personality type and their "hot buttons," so you can then effectively "deliver the message." Once you know that, start by saying:
Couldn’t help but notice that...
This may or may not be a fit for you ...
I’m curious are you open to....
Would you by chance be open to......
Rapport building does not take days, weeks, months or years, The longer you take to get to the ASK the harder it will be for you
After all the questions, and all of the rapport you’ve built, it’s time to invite them to take a look at your product or your business.
