Wow, "hate" is a strong word, isn't it?
Ok, maybe I don't quite hate this question. I guess it's more like STRONGLY dislike.
As you know, I've been around the business block a few times... I know what works and what doesn't.
Without exception, every single successful business person I know believes the same thing:
There's Now Way to Achieve Super-Success
Without Blood, Sweat (and Often) Tears...
In other words, it takes very very hard work, sacrifice, dedication, determination and an indestructible spirit to make it big. Plain and simple. (I won't deny, good timing or "luck" sometimes plays a role, as well.)
Inevitably, when I'm consulting with someone, and I give them the exact prescription to reach the top (which usually requires some combination of strategy, tactics and hard work), once in a blue moon, someone will ask me:
"Is there some shortcut I can take to succeed?"
The answer I typically give is, if you're looking for shortcuts, you shouldn't be in your own business.
You can take plenty of shortcuts as a government employee, but not as an entrepreneur or small business owner.
True entrepreneurs don't mind the very long hours, risk and hard work. In fact, they thrive on it. That's how they're wired. If you're constantly looking to bypass the process using shortcuts, you won't reach your fully business potential.
As they say, "Entrepreneurs are the only people who will work 80 hours a week to avoid working 40 hours a week."
So true.
In other words, entrepreneurs are willing to labor and sweat and work veeeeery long hours and veeeeeeey hard as their own boss in order to avoid taking the easy way out working for someone else.
I love being an entrepreneur!
