As you know, I rarely share personal photos here...
Dear ,
A few things to share with you today:
1. First of all, HAPPY GLOBAL COPTIC DAY! The is now our 2nd year and, thank God, it has been growing faster than I ever could have imagined.
In fact, for the first time ever, His Holiness Pope Tawdros II publicly wished Copts all around the world a Happy Global Coptic Day (ARABIC VIDEO). If you'd like to see it, you can start watching at the 4:15 mark. Watch all the way to the last second because that's when H.H. says it: https://youtu.be/aaOZZ6wTCpo

3. The Photo You See Above: When I was in Egypt in November of 2018 to pitch the idea of Global Coptic Day to a number of the bishops of the Holy Synod, and ultimately, to His Holiness Pope Tawadros himself, I made a quick stop at the Baramos Monastery in Wadi El Natroun. This was the very first monastery in which I had made a deep connection with many of the monks, especially Abouna Estafanos (with whom I am pictured
above). I was only 16 years old during my first visit; that was over 35 years ago.
So when I returned in 2018 and stepped foot into the ancient church of the monastery, I was overcome with emotion. All the memories of the past three decades came flooding in. I spent several hours visiting and catching up with Abouna Estafanos and then eventually had to be on my way. Reluctantly.
Although I rarely share stories/pictures in this newsletter of a personal nature, I felt particularly compelled to do so because:
A) This happened around the time of the formation of Global Coptic Day and today is Global Coptic Day; and
B) I feel it's important every once in a while to speak with you on a deeper level than the usual business talk. Why? Because I consider you and all the members part of my Coptic Chamber family, and revealing this type of thing helps develop a stronger bond between us. You're getting to know me on a more real level, beyond the superficial. And I hope to get to know you much better as well.
Hopefully you'll consider doing this type of thing with your tribe as well: Keep things generally focused on business, but once in a while, let them in on a deeper level so they can get to know the real you, ok?
Until next time...
And, remember, K.I.C. (Keep It Coptic).
