Mke Ditka, legendary football player and coach, once said:
"Winning takes a lot more than just wanting to."
When I was a boy, I wanted a pomeranian. I thought they were the coolest dogs ever. I put up a pic up top so you know what kind of dog I'm talking about.
At home, I remember reading the same World Book Encyclopedia entry about pomeranians over and over. I can still see it in my head.
I basically had it memorized.
Eventually, my parents gave in and bought us a dog. She was a sweet dog.
But she wasn't a pomeranian. It was a collie named Princess.
Fast Forward Decades Later...
I often wonder what life would have been like had I gotten the pomeranian I wanted. I suspect it wouldn't have been much different.
As I got older -- went to law school, lived on my own for several years, then got married and had kids -- I realized something important: I was more obsessed with the idea of having a pomeranian than the desire to actually own one. All this time as an adult I could have brought home a pomeranian. But I never did.
It's Like What Mike Ditka Said About Success...
Just wanting it isn't enough. Getting excited by it isn't enough. Even being obsessed with it isn't enough. If you're not willing to put it in the hours, take the risks, stay up late and wake up early, and basically outwork every single one of your competitors, you're not going beyond the "wanting" stage. It takes really really really hard work to succeed.
Never let anyone tell you otherwise.
But... you can do it.
Success has a strange way of sometimes walking right up to your door and knocking. The problem is, we don't want to get up from our comfy chair, walk all the way to the door and open.
How long will we hear the knock of opportunity and ignore it?
The good news is, it's never too late. In fact, Success is right within your reach. RIGHT NOW.
But it takes more than just wanting.
Let's get you to where you want to go together.
Until next time.
