There's a little secret among top marketing pros regarding social media.
Want to hear it? Of course you! You wouldn't have opened this email if you didn't.
The secret is that owners of businesses who make posts that are strictly about their business and DON'T SHOWCASE THEMSELVES OR THEIR PERSONALITY will never fully "connect" with their audience.
And in social media, it's all about connecting, interacting and engaging. THAT'S what makes you successful on social media.
It's No Secret...
I haven't always been a fan of social media. In fact, I pretty much resisted it with every fiber of my being!
So, I started full force in 2018 and have built a great following.
But, in 2020, social media is a reality... you can't fight it anymore.
The faster you learn the social media tricks of the trade, the better off your business will be.
So, Back to My Original Point:
I frequently get emails from members who complain that, despite the fact that they post about their business every day, they get very little engagement: barely any likes and almost no comments. Ever.
They want to know what they're doing wrong.
Well, I can't give a full analysis without reviewing a good chunk of the posts... but what I will tell you is...
One of the Biggest Mistakes Business Owners Make
Is to Post Content Only (or Mostly) Related
To Their Business Or the Industry!
You see it all the time -- The owner of a medical malpractice law firm just posts items related to personal injury. A dentists just posts news about the dental field. A Realtor just posts articles related to the R.E. market, and so forth.
While some people might be interested in this content, most aren't. Instead, they'd rather see you, your face, your interaction with people in your office, you being a little goofy or funny, you making some observation about business or life, etc.
In other words, when posting about your business,
People Want to See You as an Individual with a Personality...
And As the HERO of Your Business and Industry!
I guarantee you if you start posting with that in mind, you'll see a huge difference in your engagement.
Now, I'm not saying you should make all your posts about you personally (you shouldn't). What I'm saying is, you should use much more content, videos and photos that place you in the forefront, while occasionally including business and industry specific content.
Of course, there are other tricks to social media (I'll talk more about that soon), but just following today's one piece of advice should make a difference instantly.
Until next time...
