I've been very honest about this before:
For the longest time, I hated social media. I didn't want to hear about it... didn't want to read about it... didn't want to have ANYTHING to do with it.
I felt like it just went against my nature. I wasn't that "guy" who did the social media thing.
And for the longest time I resisted jumping into the social media pool. Perhaps I was hoping it would somehow magically fizzle out.
But you know what?
It didn't. Not only did it NOT fizzle out, it is where most people are today, on one social media platform or another.
The youngins' (boy do I feel old) have their "Snap," Instagram and Tik Tok.
Professionals have LinkedIn.
The more mature crowd has Facebook.
When I look back and wonder why I was so averse to using social media, I still can't pinpoint it exactly. Part of me didn't want to run with the crowd simply because it's what "everyone" was doing ('m a contrarian by nature), part of me was afraid of change (I guess), part of me didn't want to pile on more work for myself.
But, eventually, I set my reservations aside and decided to simply (quoting Nike) just do it.
I did it because I realized that I had no option.
Either...
I Adapt or I Die!
And I'm sure glad that I did adapt. Using social media marketing has changed my marketing game in a big way. Honestly, it has had a much bigger impact on me and my business than I ever anticipated.
As you know, I'm very active on social media and it has done wonders for getting the Coptic Chamber and its members well known throughout the world. And we're only officially about 6 months old.
But my message today isn't just about social media. It's about this:
Is There Something In Your Business
That You KNOW You Need to Adapt to
or Change... or Else You Won't Survive?
Every business sooner or later has to confront the reality that doing things the way they've always done done simply won't cut it anymore.
In business (especially entrepreneurship), you must be extremely sensitive to market changes. You must be nimble. You must be able to adapt with the times.
No one said change was fun. No one said it was easy. But for the sake of your business, you might need to adjust, adapt, tweak or transform your business model and marketing strategies.
The very survival of your company may be depending on it.
