I Like This A Lot...
As Christians, we know not to fear. Our Lord is our Savior and our Refuge.
One of my favorite verses is, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
—Isaiah 41:10
We can take much comfort in that.
But besides eliminating fear through faith, there's also a rational component, a logical way to overcome fear.
1. First thing to do is, DON'T PANIC. When people are confronted with a fearful situation, being rational and level-headed is usually not the first thing people think about doing. It should be.
2. Second, remember F.E.A.R. means "False Evidence Appearing Real." We are presented with so much false evidence on a daily basis, so many thoughts that enter our minds that make us worry, we convince ourselves that it's real. We get so worked up, we act (and worry) based on false proof.
Fear occurs when our anxiety overtakes our intellect.
Though I don't have an exact statistic for this, I would say 80-90% of the things we are fearful of never come to fruition.
Some things you fear ARE legitimate. Like fearing you'll miss the EARLY BIRD deadline for getting your ticket to Coptic-Con. (Like how I worked that in there?) :)
