Dear ,
Please look at the above quote.
"A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence."
This is a quote by a man named James N. Watkins.
It's one of my favorites.
Please learn it. Memorize it. And repeat it as often as possible.
In my over 30 years in business and marketing, the thing I see over and over and over again -- that causes more business failures than just about anything -- is a lack of consistency and persistence.
The river cuts through rock because it keeps hitting hit, splashing it, acting as a blade and dissects it... every... single... day... of every single moment.
it is relentless.
It never stops. It never gives up.
Even though it's not a powerful force that would instantly cause a rock to shatter, it achieves the same result... but over time. With patience.
It CONSISTENTLY and REGULARLY and RELENTLESSLY does the same thing over and over again, day in and day out.
The river never stops flowing because it's feeling lazy or is simply not in the mood to flow that day.
The Same Applies to Our Lives As
Business People, Entrepreneurs and Professionals
Owning your own business is hard. It's really tough stuff. The only way you even have a shot at making strides and succeeding is if you'e like the river... consistently flowing... and cutting through the rock through of your persistence.
You may not be the best, you may not the strongest, you may not even be the smartest, but you can get farther than many others because of your persistence.
A great example of this is my posting on social media.
To be honest, if it were up to me, i wouldn't do it at all. Or maybe once in a blue moon.
But, as you know, I do it day in and day out, across all the social media channels. Whether I'm sick or tired or am moody because the Miami Heat got clobbered (again), I post. The only possible exception is if I'm traveling or have no service.
And the results have been tremendous. Not only have I gotten a vast majority of the Coptic Chamber members from social media, but we have a very real and solid following on social media and in the Coptic community. People know who we are, people ask about us, people want to join us.
All because of daily, consistent, PERSISTENT activity.
So, I hope you apply this concept to your business today and everyday. It doesn't have to relate to just social media, but to other important aspects of your business as well.
Think about it: People use the word rock to symbolize strength and power. But you know better. You know that the persistent river cuts through rock any day.
Until next time...
K.I.C. (Keep It Coptic!)
