Dear ,
I won't keep you long today.
I've said this before, but you might not have read it.
Or maybe you just glanced over it. But it's SUPER important.
These days, sending emails is a part of doing business, right?
All business people do it; all business people pretty much MUST do it.
And what's the most important part of an email?
If you guessed the SUBJECT LINE, you would be absolutely correct!
If your email doesn't get opened, NOTHING else matters... nothing inside the email will be read.
And so,
Here's a Secret for Getting
Your Emails Opened and Read:
In the subject line, place the most important, relevant or eye-grabbing words/phrases towards the beginning...
Preferably in the FIRST FOUR WORDS.
I call this the "Rule of Four."
Did you get that? The first four words must be "eyeball words," i.e., words that catch the eyeballs.
Why the first four? Because most people check emails on their smart phones (based on recent stats) and you need to make sure people see your buzzwords early on. Otherwise, because phones cut off subject lines after about the fourth or fifth word, you won't grab the reader's attention quickly enough.
So, instead of a subject line like this: "Would you still like to list your house with me?"
Make it: Listing your home (I have news)
See the difference? In the first example, the first four words don't have any major eye-grabbing words.
In the second example, you had two key words within the first four ("listing and "home"). And if they happen to read to the end of the subject line, they'll see, "news," which will further pique their curiosity.
Yes, this is a secret.
And, yes, this WILL improve your email open percentage, and ultimately, your response rate.
Until next time...
K.I.C. (Keep It Coptic!)
P.S. Study my subject lines -- I always follow the "Rule of 4" whenever possible because it works.
