Dear ,
I've been around business owners all of my adult life.
There are two things that I've seen time and time again... and can guarantee that I'll continue to see:
1. Some business owners will get desperate and will act in a desperate manner
and
2) Second, customers/clients will run away from business owners who act desperately.
There's no disputing...
Business Owners Who Act In a Desperate Way
Are a Huge Turn-Off to Customers
Therefore, here's my advice for today:
As a business owner, you should never act desperate, even if you are!
People can smell desperation and it repels, it's doesn't attract.
Desperation signals weakness and people don't want to deal with anyone who appears weak.
And, if they do, they will seek to take advantage of the situation.
What Do I Mean by "Desperate"?
I suppose the typical example is the business owner who keeps calling and calling or emailing and emailing to ask if the customer is ready to hire them.
"Have you made a decision yet?", "Are you ready to proceed?", "I haven't heard back from you, I'm waiting." are all things a desperate business owner might say or write.
Contrast that with follow up, which is extremely important and necessarily the main difference is tone of urgency and frequency. The more urgent and more frequent the communication, the more desperate.
It's not a good look.
Do your best to avoid it.
Until next time...
