Picking up from where I left off yesterday...
Here are 17 content marketing ideas you can use when planning your CM (content marketing) strategy.
This is basically answering the question, where do I get ideas for content?
1. Follow websites or research sites that provide content related to "On This Day" (today in history) and relate it to your area of business.
2. Create a Top 10, Top 5, Top 8 list of the Best, Worst, Most Successful, Most Dangerous, etc. related to your business.
3. Read comments and popular blogs and websites related to your topic.
4. Do a Google search with the words "Hot topics in (your type of business)."
5. Do a Google search with the words, "Thought leaders in (your type of business)."
6. Do a Google search with the words, "(Your type of business) + newsletters -- then you'll see a myriad of topics discussed.
7. Go to www.buzzsumo.com and enter keywords related to your type of business. They will tell you what's hot on social media related to your business.
8. Go through your old sent and received emails and you'll find a treasure trove of great topics you can use for content marketing.
9. Set a google alert using keywords in your industry so that you can receive an email anytime that topic is discussed or written about on the internet.
10. Go to Facebook and join groups that discuss your topic.
11. Follow the news, Twitter trending topics and your favorite influencers for all subject-matter related to your industry.
12. Keep an ongoing "swipe file" or content ideas file that you constantly fill and refer to when you read a good idea for a topic.
13. Infographics in your industry can provide you with some wonderful topic ideas.
14. Like success stories? Me too. Heroes in your industry who have given interviews or were written about provide for wonderful content.
15. Analyze Before/After photos, stories or videos from your field and use that as content.
16. Google "Best quotes about (your type of business)" and you'll be flooded with good content marketing topics.
17. Simply talk and REALLY listen to people in your industry. Ask questions. You will be amazed by the amount of good material you'll have for content.
At this point, you might say, now that I have the ideas for content, what do I do with them?
...Tune In Tomorrow and I'll Answer That Question...
Until next time...
