Dear ,
Let me tell you right off the bat...
I'm not going to give you some magnificent business lesson here -- it's more of an observation and a solution.
Ready?
Entrepreneurs and self-employed business people are some of the happiest people around. Why? Because they're living their dream...
They're their own boss! They come and go as they like... they make their own rules (and can break them at will)... they can go watch their kid's soccer game in the middle of the day... and if they end up making anyone rich, it's...
Themselves!
.
Yet entrepreneurs are some of the loneliest people around... because... most people around them simply don't understand them.
They don't understand the struggle... they don't understand the vision... and they don't understand why anyone would give up a steady paycheck with an established company/firm/practice for a sometimes anemic paycheck (sometimes no paycheck at all) with an uncertain future.
And here comes my advice: As soon as possible, find someone -- a friend, a relative or someone else you can trust -- to discuss your life with. You goals, your business, your challenges, and so forth.
I don't mean a father of confession... I mean someone who also owns their own business and can relate to what you're going through...
... someone who'll be a sounding-board and tell you honestly what they think... someone who cares about your sanity (God knows we entrepreneurs often lose it!) and wants to see you succeed.
Not only can this help you business-wise, but it can remove the isolation -- so you don't feel like you're alone.
I promise, it will make a big difference in your happiness quotient.
P.S. Even if you're not officially self-employed yet (you're still working for the man), it can feel lonely even THINKING about venturing out on your own because your inner circle will think that you've lost your mind. Unless someone is born with the entrepreneur gene, they just don't get it.
Until next time...
