Dear ,
Yes, I know.
This photo, this email, has nothing to do with business.
It's a personal message.
Sometimes we have to take time out of our very busy schedule and reach out to our loved ones, see them, laugh with them, soak in their presence.
Life is short. Life is uncertain. Life is so, so fragile.
A good friend of mine buried his mother two days ago. He is an accomplished cardiologist, older than I am... but yet...
As he stood at the pulpit giving her eulogy, he couldn't hold back the tears. He was sobbing. It was his mother who had passed after all, not just any woman. She was his Superwoman as so many of us view our mothers.
His sadness affected me more than I would have anticipated.
So today I drove to my mother's condo, picked her up and took her to lunch (you can see our photo above). We went to her favorite restaurant.
I don't see her nearly as often as I'd like, but I made it a point to really listen to her, laugh at all her jokes and be amused by everything she was amused by. We were just being silly together. Like no one else was there...
I was living IN the moment, rather than counting the moments (and checking my phone, my texts, my emails, my social media) as we often do.
It was a good day. It was a wonderful lunch. Mom was so happy... I feel like she was sort of glowing today.
Yes, it was a good day.
I wish the same for you and your loved ones. If you haven't seen or spoken to your mother, make the effort today. Or tomorrow at the very latest. Don't put it off. You'll be happy you did.
Or perhaps if your mom has passed on -- then reach out to other people you love and connect deeply with them. Love them deeply and hold nothing back.
In the end, love is all that remains. Love, our relationships and our memories. That's the stuff that really matters.
Right?
Until next time...
