Dear ,
People often ask me how do I constantly come up with new ideas for my newsletter and social media posts.
The truth is, the ideas are endless. Not necessarily from me, but from other sources that I tap into. I'll give you a bunch of resources I use below that you can use for any content you create:
1. Follow what's current in the news related to your topic and comment about it/share the content. Google has a free service called google alerts that let's you track any keywords you like that appear in the news or on the web.
2. Subscribe to newsletters and social media accounts of influencers in your market and get ideas from their topics.
3. Simply ask your audience what they'd like you to write about.
4. Google your type of business + "hot topics" and you'll find a slew of websites with great ideas.
5. YouTube your type of business and search for the most recent videos.
6. Go to www.buzzsumo.com and search for any business topic you want. It will give you relevant topics to your business that are being discussed on social media.
7. Look up current articles on your type of business and read through some of the comments. The audience speaks loud and clear about topics that interest them.
8. Look through old magazines on ANY subject. It doesn't have to relate to your business (in fact, I suggest that it be outside of your expertise to get fresh ideas) and see how you can apply any of the topics/ideas to what you sell. Pay particular attention to the headlines.
9. Make a folder with the label "New ideas" and as you come across something you find interesting, print it out and put it in there.
10. Sign up for media queries at www.helpareporterout.com (HARO) which is a service that emails you when reporters are looking to interview business owners for stories
they're working on in your area of expertise. It's a free service and it's truly excellent.
11. Become a lover of good quotes and shareable wisdom. You can often apply some of the knowledge you read to your audience.
Do you have other sources for generating ideas? I'd love to hear about it!
Until next time...
