Dear ,
I don't know if you heard, but MasterCard just unveiled their new logo.
There it is -- Just look up.
No, it's not an error. No, your screen isn't broken.
MasterCard's new logo is...
The same exact logo MINUS the words.
Right now, there's no way to tell if this will be the biggest marketing flop in a long time or a move that will brilliantly parallel the success of the Nike swoosh or the Michael Jordan Jumpman (which are frequently seen sans the words).
I'll be honest, my initial reaction when I saw the MasterCard deal was, "Is this a joke?!" And I'm still not sold on the idea. They're trying to pull off something huge, practically unprecedented in their industry (sports is very different than financial services). But time will tell if they did the right thing
FOR YOU HOWEVER...
PLEASE... don't even think of going without a name for your logo (if you don't have a logo to begin witj, then it's time you created one).
My point is for 99.99% of businesses out there -- AND ESPECIALLY FOR SMALLER AND MID- SIZED BUSINESSES -- you must strive to get your name out there as much as possible... put it in front of people as often as possible... and get the world talking about it whenever possible.
Your name, your identity -- that's the primary method of having people recognize you..
Anyway you can create a conversation about your company or about your "brand," do it. It's free advertising that can only help you.
But keeping your name off your logo is DEFINITELY a big no-no, ok?
Until next time...
