Dear ,
This will be a short message, because, God willing, I'll give you more details about my trip to Egypt and my meeting with His Holiness Tawadros II to discuss Global Coptic Day.
In the meantime, what I want to share with you today are some things that reinforced a skill I have discussed with you before. It's something we can all apply to our businesses:
Be An Active Listener...
Be Engaged
I spent about ten minutes with the Holy Father. Throughout this time, he did ALL of the following:
1. Smiled multiple times
2. Titled his head and furrowed his brows slightly in an inquisitive way
3. Asked several pointed questions
4. Summarized a few parts of my presentation
5. Nodded his head in agreement
6. Didn't interrupt me once -- any question HH asked was after a sentence or pause
7. Didn't make me feel rushed whatsoever, even though I know he was headed for an important meeting
Honestly, I don't know if His Holiness is naturally an excellent active listener or if he learned these skills over time. But these little listening techniques really DO make a difference in how people respond to you in any setting.
Especially f you're in any type of face-to-face sales -- these tips are invaluable.
Hopefully, you already know and do most of these -- but a reminder like this one never hurts.
Until next time...
