I went to Jiffy Lube today to get an oil change for one of our cars.
Staff was very friendly...
The service was fully explained to me...
The facility was super clean
One of the employees personally walked me to the waiting room...
In general, I was treated very
well by everyone (it was my first time there).
But What Really Surprised Me...
Was what happened when they finished the oil change.
At
the end, the tech walked me over to my car... and just before I could step foot into my car... he rolled out the red carpet.
Literally.
It was all rolled up and then, with a flick of the wrist, it opened up so I could step on it and into my car.
Pretty cool, I thought. I'd
never seen that before in that type of environment.
Is is a huge deal? No. But it is different? Yes. Is it memorable? Yes. Was I impressed to the point of wanting to tell you about it? Clearly.
And so this is the point of today's newsletter: I always tell you how important it is to distinguish yourself from your competition. The more you can show how you're better or different or
more interesting or more fun or more exciting -- whatever -- the more likely people will remember you.
And if they remember you, that's half the battle.
If you take the time, I bet you can think of five or ten ways of how you
can distinguish yourself from your competition. Sometimes, that's all you need to get people to notice.
