Dear ,
Today's tip is...
When you are sending someone an email... and you really really want a response back... the best way to boost your chances is to...
End the Email with a Question
What most people normally do is they'll say something like:
"I look forward to hearing from you."
Or...
"Thank you in advance for your attention."
Or...
"Let me know when you're available."
These are all statements NOT questions. The reason you want to end your
email with a question is because that leaves the loop open -- most people don't like open "loops." They like their things to be tidy, to be nice and neat. A question creates the necessity for a next step.
The other reason is because when you ask a question, you're kind of making yourself vulnerable -- leaving yourself "hanging." It's like putting your hand out for a handshake. People have a very hard time walking away from a handshake. They
have to fight themselves to NOT shake your hand.
Make sense?
So, Here Are a Few Questions You Can Use:
"Did you have any quick questions for me?"
Or...
"When will you be available to talk further?"
Or...
"What other things haven't I covered?"
Personally, I've had a lot of success with, 'Did you have any quick questions for me?" I love that one.
I'll tell you more about this technique, and my successes with it, another time.

P.S. The reason the subject line is "Don't get mad at me" is because I once taught this "asking a a question at the end of an email" technique and someone got mad at me because they felt I was using some underhanded persuasion techniques. Well, I disagree. I just think this
is psychology in action. Try it and let me know how it works for you.
Your friend,
