Dear ,
It's so much easier being a follower. But it's not nearly as rewarding as being a leader.
Entrepreneurs, by their nature are independent. They're leaders.
But the
vast majority of the public are followers.
Why do you think that is?
There could be many reasons, here are 18 possibilities (taken from "1,219 Powerful Marketing Ideas You Can Use to Get Rich):
1. It's easier to follow.
2. Comfort
zone.
3. Herd instinct (sheep) mentality
4. Safety/security issues.
5. They don't want to think on their own.
6. Fear of risk.
7. Child dependencies.
8. Habit.
9. Self-image (as a follower).
10. No personal responsibility
11. No/not much ambition.
12. Lacking confidence in one's self.
13. Erroneous belief in the "born leader" myth.
14.
Laziness.
15. Need to belong is too powerful.
16. No rebellion!
17. Unwilling to pay the price.
18. Unwilling to grow, learn and develop.
And perhaps you can think of others.
Why is it important to know this information? Because when you structure your marketing messaging (when you make a sales call, write an ad, pitch someone over the phone, etc.), if you're communicating with a follower, you can emphasize some of these points and work them into your
pitch.
As business owners, we aren't phased by any of the items on the list -- we can't really relate to them because we're leaders. For everyone else who are followers, these are very relevant (and potentially scary) in their lives.
Regardless of your business -- law, real estate, financial
planning, insurance, landscaping, dental, plumbing, you name it -- I bet you can find a way to work these in your marketing.
If they resonate with your audience, you'll have an easier time making the sale.
Now go lead
your business to great heights!
