Dear ,
One of my subscribers sent me an email asking if it's alright to own a business and not have a website.
My answer was if you want to be taken seriously, as a professional in your
industry, then you need a standalone website because it shows that you're invested in building and growing your company. No amateur hour for you.
True -- nowadays, you can have great engagement with social media and display your products or services on those platforms. And that's a great thing for sure. But I prefer that you use social media as a lead generator rather than a substitute for your own piece of real estate on the worldwide
web.
Remember, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. All your serious competitors probably have websites -- so not having one lessens your credibility. Don't be upset by this advice... and... if all you can do FOR NOW is post on social media, then do that. It's better than nothing.
I would prefer you do SOMETHING
rather than wait for the "ideal" time to build a website and launch your company. There's never an ideal time. Same goes for having kids -- there's never a perfect time.
(By the way, if you are in sales for a large company -- real estate, finance, insurance, etc. -- it's enough that the company has a website. You don't need your own. Just use social media to generate leads customize your own
space.)
Have a wonderful weekend!
