The sooner you realize how this works, the better... Dear , I received an email from a marketing colleague, Yanik Silver, a few days ago. I was actually at one of his seminars -- like maybe 15 years ago?! -- and he's doing a lot of things right.
Check out what Yanik says about being "weird" and how it can help you business (I
have omitted parts of the email for better reading).
BTW, in this context, I want to think of weird as different and unique. ___________________________ "What is weird? Different? Outside of the norm? Imaginative? Truth is if you’re reading this, I bet you’re a fellow weirdo. And guess what? Weird is your superpower. I love weird. Stepping outside of what we have been taught can feel a little strange. And stepping outside the way business has traditionally been done, can feel really scary. But what happens when fully dare to step outside of the confines of “what’s always been done”? You get innovation. You get creativity. You leave your mark. That’s partially why I’ve been called a maverick mischief maker, a cosmic catalyst, a galactic goofball. That is who I am. When I finally started owning all of my quirks and weirdness… Actually showing up as my authentic self… That’s when my biggest breakthroughs have occurred. This is your permission. Unleash your inner weirdo. Embrace your eclectic self." __________________________ What Yanik means about embracing your authentic self is this: You will make a much bigger mark... and be much more memorable... when you share the real you with people. Quirks and all. Being different is not a liability. It's a business superpower. Don't be afraid to build your business around it. Until next time... And, remember, K.I.C. (Keep It Coptic).
